Blackbird Creek Plantation invites 2nd graders
October 11, 2007
For many years now, Blackbird Creek Plantation has extended an invitation to the 2nd grade class at Putnam County Elementary to a day of fun at their facilities located on the backside of Lake Thunderhead.
On Tuesday, October 9, fifty-nine second graders were treated to hot dogs and all the fixings, including the great outdoor treat of roasting marshmallows. John Freihaut is the manager of Blackbird and always looks forward to hosting the children. The hospitality is wonderful and creates an opportunity for great memories to be made. Many of John's friends and family assist with cooking the food and having the picnic area decorated for the season.
After having a wonderful time in the outdoor pavilion area, which overlooks a beautiful view, students were taken to the pumpkin patch. Each child was allowed to pick his or her own pumpkin and take it home. When asking students what their favorite memory of the field trip was, they gave responses like "the marshmallows," "playing red rover," "getting to pick out my own pumpkin," "the hot dogs," and "getting to play with my friends."
Once again, it was a beautiful fall day at Blackbird Creek Plantation, and one that we at Putnam County Elementary truly enjoyed. Thank you John and everyone at Blackbird!
