Seeds Develop into a Tasty Treat
3G has been studying the life cycle of a seed. Two Master Gardners, Mildred Rhoades and Bob Smiley came to visit the 3rd Graders with tools to teach gardening skills. A fall September day all 54 students enjoyed dropping radish, lettuce, spinach, and turnip seeds into the prepared soil. We got really excited to see them growing just one week later. We changed the variable by adding water to one end of the radish row. It started growing immediately. With lots of sunshine, rain, and nutrients from the soil, Jordan Hollon was the first to enjoy a tasty radish on October 15, 2007. We hope to enjoy the spinach and lettuce before long. We’d like to thank Mildred and Bob for helping us with our Science Concept of “Developing Seeds”.
