Biology "Message in a Bottle"

Biology students explore how carbon, oxygen and water cycle through our ecosystem by designing their own bottle ecosystem.
Each pair of students create their own sealed environment that includes organisms from both the plant and animal kingdom. The bottles are then sealed for a week after which time the students will unseal their bottles to see if their organisms survived. During the time the bottles are sealed, the students record daily observations. The theory is that the plants will provide oxygen for the animals while the animals provide carbon dioxide for the plants.
