Putnam County Middle School Boys Tournament Highlights 2007
Come November a few things are constant in Putnam County: deer season and the Putnam County Middle School Basketball Tournament.
Teams participating in the 31st annual field include Milan, Putnam County, Schuyler County, and Scotland County.
With the games being played on a Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday format and different from past years, many coaches and spectators have found this to be a nice change.
This year's tournament saw many evenly matched teams with hard fought, well-played games each night. However, the Scotland County Boys separated themselves to the top to win first place.
The Putnam County Boys did manage to capture the sportsmanship trophy, of which is always something to be proud. PC demonstrated qualities in each game that show they are improving in basketball skills and were good sports along the way.
The Putnam County A Boys team is now 2-4 on the season. Leading scorers up to date are Deion and Justin. Dillon and Derek have done a good job on the boards. Joel and Brett have managed much of the ball handling responsibilities and have performed well. Coming up for the Midgets is Thanksgiving break then back to the floor for some more basketball. Note the 4 games scheduled at Princeton that were previously cancelled have been moved to Wednesday, December 5 at 5:00.
