and the survey says.......

Putnam County High School students were surveyed on Friday, November 30, as they arrived at school. The results showed that there is much room for improvement. Only 55% of the students were using a seat belt device. A few members of SADD and Jeannie Johnson from the Putnam County Health Department braved the cold conditions to assist with the survey.
In the spring of 2007, the Highway Safety Division of the Missouri Department of Transportation in cooperation with the Missouri Safety Center funded an observational survey of safety belt usage in the state of Missouri. The state average for teenage drivers was 61.1%. Statistically teenagers have a lower safety-belt usage rate than older drivers. Missouri's statewide safety belt use in 2006 was 75.2%.
If you visit the Missouri State Highway Patrol web site at www.mshp.dps.missouri.gov, you can see the Traffic Crash Reports for the state of Missouri. In the report they include if the individuals involved in the crash were wearing safety devices. Let's all encourage one another to Buckle Up and Arrive Alive!
