The Ride
by Cassie
Did you ever wonder why people say to listen to your mom? I have one good reason to listen to her. It was a hot day at my grandpa's house. My brother was riding the four-wheeler and next would be my turn.
It all started when my brother pulled up with the four-wheeler. "Here you go," he muttered as he got off.
"Drive slow!" shouted Mom.
I stuck my tongue out at her and sped off. Maybe I should have listened to her.
Then I took a lap around the house. When I came to the driveway I turned around. It was kind of hard due to the fact that the four-wheeler had no back-up switch. I came around my aunt's Blazer and began to speed up. I went around one tree, but not the other one. I went around that first tree pretty fast, then I saw him. It was my grandpa coming out behind the tree at the corner of the house. I swerved trying not to hit anything. But trying wasn't enough. I hit the evergreen tree. I wasn't hurt that bad. I had a few scratches on my cheeks, but that was all. Grandpa was a little upset that I crashed his four-wheeler. My mom came out of the house. Together my mom and my grandpa pulled me out.
Later, I went back inside with Mom. She told Grandma what happened.
"Did the tree fall over?" asked Grandma.
"No," answered Mom.
So you can see, to listen to your mom is important. She doesn't say that just for the safety of you, but she does it for the safety of others!
