Nationals

My name is Brandon Lynch, and I am the (DECA) Distributive Clubs of America advisor at Putnam County R-1 School. I recently took nine students to compete at this year’s state DECA competition.  I am pleased to inform you that our school represented Putnam County with great pride and respect.  We had two of our students qualify for nationals, which will be held April 25-30 in Atlanta, GA.  The 5-day experience includes competition in their particular events, test taking, leadership skills, and networking with other National qualifying students. Your contribution will go towards sponsoring our student and advisor transportation and lodging.

I am currently seeking financial sponsors to help with the expense of the trip. In case you haven’t heard of (DECA), please allow me to share some history with you. DECA chapters operate in over 4,500 high schools across the U.S., Puerto Rico, Guam and territories, Mexico, Germany and Canada. With over 180,000 members (mostly juniors and seniors), DECA’s high school division is recognized and endorsed by all 50 state departments of education and the U.S. Department of Education.

Membership in the high school division is restricted to students with a career interest in hospitality, finance, sales and service, business administration and/or entrepreneurship. DECA programs are co-curricular, meaning programs complement nationally recognized curriculum standards in the classroom and then go further to incorporate realistic, educational experiences not available through classroom instruction alone.

DECA provides specific programs for the classroom teacher to use in student development and achievement. These programs can be organized into four (4) categories; Leadership Development, Community Service, Skill Assessment and Academic Skill Development.

The program expense is $[1800.00 cost], which includes all transportation, and lodging. I am asking contributors to make a financial donation to help us reach our goal. Is it possible for you to assist us by making a contribution? Any amount of contribution would be appreciated.

Your generous contribution would enable students from our community to share in this wonderful opportunity. Thank you in advance for your consideration and support.

Sincerely yours,
