Twenty Eight agriculture students recently qualfied for state contests.

Seven Ag. Teams Qualify for State

After several weeks of preparation and five practice contests, the agricultural contest teams headed to the Northeast District Contest in Columbia, Missouri on April 2, 2008. 

A total of nine teams competed, consisting of 36 Putnam County students. 

When contests were over, the results were posted and seven teams qualified for state competition. These teams will compete in state contest in Columbia April 17 and 18. 

Agriculture contest areas are based on classroom curriculum and give students an opportunity to learn more in-depth, specific knowledge about various agriculture contest areas. The Northeast District is comprised of about 50 schools.

The following is a list of the teams that competed, their rankings, and their respective team members:
Meats placed 3rd overall and qualified for state contest. The team consisted of Jamie, Stacy, Brady M., and Michael.

Dairy Foods placed 3rd overall and qualified for state contest. The team consisted of Jessica, Brandon, Elizabeth, and Shelby.

Entomology placed 5th overall and qualified for state contest. The team consisted of Devon, Brady F., Matthew B., and Zach H.

Dairy Cattle placed 6th overall and qualified for state contest. The team consisted of Sara G., Zack H., Josh, and Mason.

Agriculture Mechanics placed 7th overall and qualified for state contest. The team consisted of Tanner, Will, Darien and Jake.

Forestry placed 8th overall and qualified for state contest. The team consisted of Daniel M., Nyle, Daniel S. and Marty.

Agronomy placed 9th and qualified for state contest. The team consisted of Sarah R., Cole, Courtney, and Kelsey.

Poultry placed 10th and was alternate to state contest. The team consisted of Connor, Kailee, Kyle, and Jordan.

Livestock placed 27th. The team consisted of Dalton, Dathan, Alex, and Shaleigh.

The following individuals placed as the top ten individuals in their respective contests: Elizabeth N., 3rd high individual diary foods; Zach H., 8th high individual dairy cattle; and Stacy H., 7th high individual meats contest.

Also attending the contests were advisors Clyde Bondy and Randy Morris.
