In September, William Woods University came to Putnam County Schools in hopes of starting a master’s cohort on our campus. The response was great and 15 teachers from PC, Milan, and Green City enrolled in the program.
With the program came the option of pursuing a Master in Education either at the secondary or elementary level. About half the students are seeking further knowledge at the elementary level while the other half is pursuing secondary.
Some of the coursework that the teachers have been taking include Classroom Management, Educational Technology, and Research Design.
In order to complete the program, a teacher must document 110 clock hours in six different educational standards in addition to doing a research paper on a school improvement issue.
From Putnam County the teachers enrolled in the program are Mr. Andrew Garber, Mr. Matt Klingner, Mrs. Monica Casady, Mrs. Tonja Partridge, Mr. Jeff Butler, Mrs. Tammy Dooley, Mr. Ched Hurley, Mrs. Tiffani Klinginsmith, Mrs. Donna Altiser, and Mrs. Traci Hurley.
Classes run on Wednesday nights with area principals and superintendents teaching the classes.
This has been a great opportunity for teachers in our school district to gain more knowledge in the field of education and in return benefit the students at PCR-1.
