A Class Story

by Robin Prater

April 17, 2008

We have been working hard this year in Communication Arts.  We have been learning to read by sounding out and blending words and recognizing high frequency words.  We have also been learning to write sentences and stories.  Each student writes sentences independently in his or her journal.  As a class we have been writing poems and stories.  Below is a story we wrote as a class.  We really focused on having a good beginning, middle, and end.  Each student contributed one sentence to the story.  We had a lot of fun writing this story.  We hope you enjoy reading it.

Pig's Party

Pig invited Hen, Fox, and Goat to her house for dinner. First, Pig opened the door. Then Fox came inside the house with the pie he made. Then Hen came in with the cake. Next, they all sat at the table to eat. Then Goat showed up and brought some soup. When they were done eating they played a game. Then Hen, Fox, and Goat left. Pig went to bed. Hen, Fox, and Goat went to bed too. The next morning Hen, Fox, and Goat went back to Pig's house. They all helped Pig clean up last night's supper. After cleaning up, the friends played all day. The End
