PUTNAM COUNTY RECEIVES eMINTS GRANT

The Putnam Co. R-I School District received word today that it will be a recipient of the FY09 Federal Title II.D Competitive eMINTS Grant. A total of 43 first-year FY09 competitive grant applications were submitted. They were reviewed by teams of evaluators April 14-17. Putnam County received the top score in the northwest region of the state. The one-year grant awards are contingent upon Missouri receiving state funding.
The eMINTS classrooms will be equipped with computers for the students, Smart Boards for the classroom and teacher professional development to inspire them to use instructional strategies powered by technology, thereby inspiring students to have an excitement for learning and improving their academic performance.
The $400,000 eMINTS Grant funds will tentatively provide for one science, one special education, and two communication arts eMINTS classrooms in the middle school and one communication arts, one special education and two science classrooms in the high school.
The elementary building will have one special education e-MINTS classroom, and the fifth grade classrooms will be equipped with student computers and Smart Boards while teachers will be provided training. By equipping the fifth grade classrooms, all fourth and fifth grade classrooms in the elementary school will be technologically equipped to better assist students with their academic learning experience.
