APRIL 20TH IS A VERY SPECIAL DATE FOR YOUR CALENDAR

April 20th has been set aside to thank all the people that so generously donate their time, their resources and their support for the S.O.A.R. Before and Afterschool Program.  Our theme for the evening will be “Appreciation Fiesta,” and it will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m.  We will provide dinner that evening and there will probably be some surprises from the students.  Please mark your calendars for this evening and join in the celebration to show our appreciation to those that are so supportive of our program.  More details will be provided in the next couple of weeks.

EVENTS THIS WEEK

This week’s projects included the introduction of the adventures of Flat Stanley.  This is a project that will continue through the remainder of this school year and will carry on into the summer  Mr. Michael will be traveling to the Final Four soon and to Germany in April.  I believe Flat Stanley will be traveling alongside him.   Encourage your children to explain who Flat Stanley is and what plans are being made for him at the S.O.A.R. Program.
March 18, 2010, marked Camp Fire USA's 14th annual Absolutely Incredible Kid Day. Each S.O.A.R. student was sent a letter to remind them how special they are to us that work with them.

In celebration of St. Patrick’s Day, the S.O.A.R. students made Leprechaun Fizz on Thursday and Ms. Nellie baked cupcakes.  The weather was absolutely gorgeous so they also got to spend some time outside.  The Unionville Fire Department, one of the program’s community partners also visited on Thursday with the fire truck to talk with the students about home and fire safety.

On Friday, Mrs. Fischgrabe read “Aunt Flossie’s Hats (and Crab Cakes Later) to the students and led them in a project which included students making unusual hats.

And, last but not least, several more students are getting closer to achieving their Gold Reading Certificates.  WAY TO GO KIDS!!!!!!!!

EVENTS COMING UP NEXT WEEK

The students will have a guest next Wednesday and will take part in a special cooking class on Friday.
