SCHOOL’S OUT! – IT’S SUMMERTIME!!!!!
For generations movies have been made about it, songs have been written about it and I can honestly predict that many still get giddy with anticipation of the lazy days of summer. That time when trips can be taken, books of one's own choosing may be read, and opportunities of choice may be indulged in. It is a time of renewal. The educational benchmarks have been checked off for another year and the few weeks of time between the past and the future tend to appear to be suspended in time where bells, clocks, and schedules no longer rule us.
What does a kid do when that final bell rings out the end of another school year? Well, if you are part of Putnam County's S.O.A.R. Before and Afterschool Program you grab your suit and towel and head to the nearest swimming hole.
SOAR SWIMMING FIELD TRIP
Forty five suit-clad students and five staff boarded the bus and headed to Honey Creek Water Park near Moravia, Iowa, Thursday afternoon to cool off and enjoy their first afternoon of the summer recess. This field trip was made possible by a recent fundraising activity headed up by S.O.A.R. parents Lori Ray and Nikki Hill. Several parents and family members also donated items and time to make the fundraising event a success.
