School is back in session and learning is in progress. But, for many Putnam County R-I S.O.A.R. students their learning experiences continued throughout the summer. After the regularly scheduled Putnam Co. R-I Summer School ended in June, the S.O.A.R. Before and Afterschool Program held an extended summer session from July 3rd through August 18th. The Putnam County R-I S.O.A.R. Before and Afterschool students worked very hard this summer on various projects and enrichment activities. Field trips took them to Kansas City, MO to the Coterie Theatre, the Royals Baseball Stadium and Science City; to Iowa to ride the train and to Newton, Iowa to tour the Iowa Speedway, just to name a few. The students learned about photography, read many, many books, worked on Reader’s Theatre, went swimming at the Unionville Country Club pool. And, besides the creative art projects they worked on, they also creatively worked as a team to create their own summer newsletter which included their own articles and photographs.
