SOAR STUDENTS CELEBRATE "LIGHTS ON AMERICA"

The Putnam County R-I S.O.A.R. Before and Afterschool Program joined thousands of afterschoolers nationwide recently to celebrate “Lights On Aferschool.” Students invited their friends and family to take part in this important event, and several community partners and Parent/Advisory Council members were also present.
The S.O.A.R. students have been working for several weeks on a
special talent show that they presented during the celebration. The
program included students that sang, danced, juggled, presented a
ventriloquist act, and did pantomime. The program also included two
group dances to Mr. Roboto and Thriller, and a song driving home
the message to say “No” to drugs. Sunny, a very happy clown, and
her side kick, Bob, were on hand to provide entertainment and
balloon creations. And, of course, no celebration would be complete
without cake and punch.
After the fun and celebration the microphone was handed over to the
students involved in the program so they could share what
afterschool means to each of them.
On behalf of the Putnam County R-I S.O.A.R. Before and Afterschool
Program I want to thank everyone that helped to make the event very
special. In case you were not able to attend the celebration you
may want to view the attached slideshow to see what you missed out
on!!
