UPCOMING EVENTS
STUDENTS TO GO TO UNIVERSITY OF MO FOR BASKETBALL GAME
We had 30 students turn in forms to go to the Missouri basketball game tomorrow, January 23, 2010. Please have your students at the S.O.AR. building no earlier than 7:50 a.m. The bus will leave promptly at 8:00 a.m. For those children that turned in and paid for lunches we will have their lunches packed on the bus for them. If you did not order a sack lunch for your child, please be sure to follow the guidelines which were sent home yesterday when packing your child’s lunch. There should be no metal cans of any kind, and no glass bottles. Please boldly print their names on their lunch sack. ALSO, no electronic games, music or toys will be allowed on the bus. The bus will be parked in a parking lot and no one will be able to monitor the contents. The bus will arrive back at 6:00 p.m. Be sure that you are there to pick them up. If you send others to pick up your child they must be on the pre-approved list in order to sign them off the bus.
FAMILY FUN NIGHT SCHEDULED FOR JANUARY 26, 2010
Over 40 of you returned you sheets to be included in the 5:30-6:00 p.m. supper next Tuesday, January 26th. If you still want to come you are welcome to join in the activities at 6:00 p.m. We plan to start the evening of reading promptly at 6:00 p.m. Reading takes many different forms and I’m sure your family will enjoy the activities that are being planned for them that evening. Your family may want to bring pillows, a blanket to lay on, etc.—whatever makes you comfortable. There will be several guests that are sure to make the evening totally amazing!!!!!!
EVENTS FROM THIS WEEK
This week the students have continued a study on the planets. They made space helmets and “traveled” via a mock space shuttle ride to the various planets to view the differences and observe many interesting facts about the individual planets.
FAMILY STRENGTHS WORKSHOPS
The Putnam Co. R-I School District held its second of three family workshops last evening in the Elementary Library. There will be one more workshop on Thursday, January 28st. The topic of next week’s workshop will be “General Guidelines For Parenting, Dealing With Anger & ‘I Love You’ Rituals.” The workshops are open to everyone and I hope you will plan to attend.
OPENING AND CLOSING INFORMATION
The weather doesn’t always cooperate with us which was the case this past Tuesday morning. Icy roads deemed it necessary for the district to close school early that morning—with a call coming through the system a few minutes after 6:00 a.m. I’m sorry for the inconvenience that this may have caused your family. Most of you have alternative authorized individuals designated to sign your children out from the S.O.A.R. Program. If you do not, I would like to suggest that you do so to alleviation stress in the future. The S.O.A.R. Program is unable to care for your children for the entire day as we do not have a food supply available to feed your children their breakfast and/or lunch.
NOTES ARE IMPORTANT…
Parents: it is extremely important for you to write notes to the Elementary/Middle School office if your child is to change from their regular schedule. A signed note to the elementary/middle school office is needed EVERY time there is: a change in where your child is going after school; if your child is or is not being picked up at the end of S.O.A.R.by a parent or other person that has been previously authorized by the parent; or if your child is or is not riding the S.O.A.R. bus home; and if someone else. Mrs. White and/or Mrs. Cullum will forward the information to the S.O.A.R. Program prior to the end of the school day. Thanks for your help with this. It will save time and confusion for us all and better serve the needs of your children and family.
