ACT Workshop
by Carla Spence
February 24, 2010
Putnam County R-1will provide the opportunity for JUNIORS to take the ACT for FREE! Students take the ACT for several different reasons. Students take the ACT for college entrance requirements. It is good for juniors to take the test so scores may be raised during senior year if needed. Scholarships may also require ACT scores. Several dual-credit classes will require a specific ACT score for enrollment requirements.
The ACT is made up of four multiple choice tests in English, mathematics, reading, and science. The ACT Plus Writing Test includes the four multiple-choice tests plus a 30 minute writing test and has a higher fee of $47.00.
Juniors should obtain a registration packet from Ms. Spence. Complete it and mail directly to ACT. The student pays for the cost of the ACT of $32.00 at this time. Students must enroll for the April 10, 2010, test date. The deadline to register is March 5, 2010. Registration may also be completed online.
To be reimbursed for the $32.00, juniors must attend an ACT Prep workshop on Saturday, March 6, 2010. The time is 8 to noon. There is NO cost for the workshop. Simply sign the list outside Ms. Spence's door. Students will be given a check after the ACT test has been taken.
The workshop will offer a practice test and guidance from core instructors. The workshop will take place in the middle school auditorium. Students will take practice tests and split up into small groups to discuss their answers. Test taking tips will also be covered.
ALL STUDENTS grades 9-12 are invited to attend the workshop. Students must sign the sheet outside Ms. Spence's door. Please see Ms. Spence if you have any questions.
