National FFA Officer Visits Putnam County
On Wednesday, September 14th, 2011 Wyatt Dejong, the National FFA Central Region Vice President visited and spoke to members of the Putnam County FFA Chapter. DeJong is from South Dakota and was in Northeast Missouri to visit FFA chapters and to speak at the Area III FFA Leadership Conference, which was held on September 14th. During his brief visit Dejong spoke to 2 groups of Putnam County FFA members totalling about 75 students. The focus of his talk was the importance of believing in yourself and to always aim for high goals without being scared of failure.
Six National FFA Officers are elected each fall during the National FFA Convention. Once elected, they spend 320 days out of the year traveling and speaking at various FFA activities across the country while representing the 500,000 member National FFA organization.
