Make Learning Fun

My 5th graders have displayed some great looking complex machines in the halls this week. They have been busy building a complex machine out of two simple machines and writing about what they built. This is one example of hands on learning. Some kids will remember for years what a complex machine is because they built one. Hands on learning is a lot of fun and kids actually remember what they have learned. There are several chances at school to do this kind of learning, but don't stop there...find something to do at home. It's a great way to spend time with your kids and explore new interests. Anything from cooking, to building something with a scrap of wood to making jewelry. The possibilities are endless. Let's all find ways to help our kids love to learn.
