Junior High Band Students Go to Districts!!

Saturday, January 7, a few members of the junior high band were selected to audition for and participate in the junior high level district band. They traveled to Macon High School for the event. The morning started out with individual auditions for chair placements in the bands. The auditions were made up of a prepared piece of music and a few scales. There were two bands which the students were split between, depending on their audition scores. After the students were placed in a band they rehearsed with the other instruments from their sections for several hours. They then came together for a run-through of their music as a mass band.
On Saturday, February 18, the students will return to Macon High School and rehearse the whole day before performing for family, friends, and band directors at five in the evening. The concert will include the two bands and their musical selections, and the District High School Jazz Band. The concert is open to the public and held in the gymnasium at Macon High School.
