Freshman Orientation August 4

Starting high school as a freshman can be both exciting and intimidating.  To ease students into their high school experience, an orientation will be held Monday, August 4 at 6:00 p.m. in the middle school auditorium.  Heath Halley, Superintendent, Carla Miller, Guidance Counselor and Jeremy Watt, Principal, will be conducting the orientation for Putnam County R-I incoming freshmen and their parents.    Mary Comstock, A+ Coordinator will also be on hand to provide information about the A+ program.  After the main session, students and parents can participate in the club fair.

Students will receive tips for success as well as information about the attendance policy, extracurricular opportunities, and other important items.   Each freshman will receive a schedule and after the orientation will have the opportunity to walk through the building and locate each classroom on their schedule.

Information about the A+ program will be presented and an A+ agreement can be signed at the orientation.  The A+ program provides financial incentives for college tuition to qualified graduates who meet attendance, grade point average, tutoring, and citizenship guidelines.

Following the orientation, a club fair will be held in the middle school commons.  Members of all the high school clubs will be handing out information, showcasing activities, and answering questions.  Freshmen visiting all the booths will be entered into a prize drawing.

For more information, contact Carla Miller at 947-3361, extension. 308 or Jeremy Watt at extension 306.
