Elementary Library Summer Reading Program
The Putnam County Elementary School will be hosting a summer reading program in the Elementary Library. The program will be held on Tuesday’s and Thursday’s from June 30-July 23. Kindergarten-2nd grade will be from 9:00-10:00 with 3rd grade-5th grade following from 10:00-11:00. There will be weekly prize drawings for students attending both days of the week. There will be a grand prize drawing for students who attend all sessions. There will be read -alouds, activities, and silent reading time each day. We want to encourage students to open books even though school is over for the year. We want them to READ, READ, READ this summer! Research shows that children who do not read during the summer months will struggle at the beginning of the school year. Many students regress in their reading ability over the summer due to the lack of reading. So plan now to keep your child reading over the summer!
