Good Citizenship Makes Our Community Strong
Demonstrating the rights and duties as a member of a group.
Everyone doing their part is what makes Putnam County a great place to live. Before leaving for the Thanksgiving holiday middle school students honored a community member who they recognize as representing the best aspects of good citizenship. Community winner, Brian Quint, grew up in Putnam County and graduated with the class of 1990. His mother, Linda Quint, was a high school secretary for many years. Brian attended Graceland University where he played college football and was selected All American. After earning a bachelor's degree in Business Administration he returned to Putnam County and has for worked for Farmers Bank, Worthington Ag and is currently employed by Helena. He volunteers his time working with the Putnam County Youth Football program. You'll also see him on the basketball court referring at the games. Brian Quint is the father of three sons. Cody is in college, Carson attends PC high school and Carter, who was also honored for his good attitude, is a 6th grader.
November's assembly also highlighted four students who demonstrate good citizenship here at school. These character education award winners will receive a sub sandwich lunch on Monday. Kori H., Maddie P., Jonathon K., and Kelsey S. are the four students chosen by their teachers for this honor.
A good attitude toward learning is often half the battle in a school setting. A student from each grade was voted upon by the staff for the opportunity to earn two, ten bonus point coupons to use in the classes of their choice. November's good attitude winners were: Carter Q., 6th grade; Grant M., 7th grade; and Miranda F., 8th grade.
Every month an outstanding student is voted upon from each class. This month's winners were: Grace S., 6th grade; Alexis W., 7th grade; and Richard R., 8th grade. These outstanding students received a framed certificate, and candy.
Following our assembly students enjoyed a playing Bingo, Pictionary and line dancing in the middle school commons. We finished up the fun day before the holiday with a movie in the auditorium. The newest Jurassic Park film was a real hit judging from the squeals and applause.
