Kindergarten Learns about the Farmers Market
Mrs. McClain's summer school class had special visitors today. Mrs. Joni Halley from the University Extension Office and Mrs. Ericka Klingner from the Putnam County Health Department came to talk to students about the local farmers market and the benefits of eating fresh fruits and vegetables. Summer interns with the Health Department are Meredith Parson and Samuel Kemp who shared with the students how a local farmer raises his crop in a green house. After the students heard a story they were able to sample a locally grown strawberry. The students will have five lessons in the kitchen with Mrs. Halley starting tomorrow.
