New Library's Coffee Bar Brings in Students

What goes together better than books and coffee?

Putnam County R-1 middle school and high school students were excited to see the brand new library in person on the first day of school, but it was the new coffee bar that brought many students through the library doors. Plans for the coffee bar are still in progress, but it currently features a Keurig coffee maker, Bunn coffee pot, and all the coffee fixings like sugar, cream, and tasty flavored creamers. As supplies are available, students can also have hot cocoa, tea, and apple cider. Beverages were free on the first two days of the school year, but will be $1 per drink.

The coffee bar is available before and after school for students and all day for teachers and staff. Because beverages must stay in the library, the new coffee bar is a great way to encourage students to check out the library and all it has to offer. Colorful couches are on their way soon and will make a cozy addition on which students can sit, enjoy a book and the lovely view out of the library's picture windows.

We will add to the coffee bar selection in the weeks to come, and plan to offer contests and reading programs to earn free coffee throughout the year.
