From Dr. Halley's Desk: PC R-1 Fitness Center & Walker Keycards
New keycards are required to enter the school.
Keeping our students safe is a top priority at PC R-1. Connecting with our Putnam County community is also something we strive to do. To meet both of these objectives we are making changes to the way we invite community members into our school facilities to use the Fitness Center and walk the halls for exercise.
Because we want to ensure we always know who is in our school buildings at all times, beginning Monday, January 16, all entrances to the school will be locked. Individuals wishing to use the Fitness Center or walk the halls will be required to have an official school-issued keycard to scan at the entrances, as well as a form and photo on file with the Superintendent’s Office.
We want our community members to continue using our facilities, but it is important for us to take every precaution to keep our school safe. In addition to community members obtaining keycards from the Superintendent’s Office, there is a camera at every entrance verifying the people scanning the cards match up with the photos we have on file.
How to Reactivate or Obtain a Keycard to Use PC R-1 Facilities
All Fitness Center keycards were deactivated at the end of 2016. To reactivate your card, please come by the Superintendent’s Office in the high school and Terry Owings will reactivate your card for a $5 fee, fill out a form, and take your photo for our system.
If you would like a new pass to utilize the Fitness Center, you can purchase one for the following fees from the Superintendent’s Office:
- PC resident - $10
- Non-PC resident who works in the county but does not live in the county - $20
- Non-PC resident who does not work in the county - $100
Walkers utilizing the school hallways will now need an official, school-issued walker keycard to enter the school building. These walker keycards are FREE for the first card and $5 for a replacement card. Because all doors will be locked beginning Monday, January 16, walkers will only be able to enter the school to use the hallways if they have a card to scan at the high school entrance near the Superintendent’s Office.
The Superintendent’s Office is open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday, and we invite you to come in to reactivate or purchase a new card or to obtain your free walker keycard.
