Back to School…

Once again school has begun and this is the time of year to begin a new nightly routine. Some teachers specifically assign homework and some students only have homework if they did not get it finished during class time. There is one homework assignment that should be established as a ‘constant’ and that is having your child read for 10-15 minutes every night. This is one of the most beneficial and important task/chore/homework items you can do for your child every night. Reading is something that needs to be practiced every night. Your child may just be learning his/her letter names or sounds, sight words, vocabulary, or to read fluently. All of these get better with practice and are very important to the reading process.

Please stress to your student how important reading is and that it is just as important to you as an adult. If teachers and parents work together, we can help your child succeed at reading.
