Flag Etiquette in 5th Grade
Each year, fifth grade students are taught the proper flag etiquette and take on the responsibility of the elementary flag. This is a tradition that Coach Duane Crawford started with students. Now, Mr. Allen Tipton carries on the tradition. Students are taught the proper way to raise and lower the flag. We also learn how to properly fold the flag. Students show great respect to our flag and enjoy having this responsibility. For the month of September, my students have done an outstanding job of taking on this responsibility. We will rotate months with the other fifth grade class. We want to thank Mr. Tipton for taking time out of his schedule to teach us the proper way to do this. At the end of the school year, students will vote on the classmate that they feel has shown a great deal of respect and responsibility in our classroom. This student will get to take home our classroom flag.
