"It's Beginning To Sound A Lot like Christmas"

Greeting from the elementary music room!  Kindergarten, First Grade and Fifth Grade students are busy preparing music for their Christmas Program.  We will present this program on Thursday, December 14 in the middle school auditorium.  The programs will be presented as follows:

Kindergarten:  6:00 PM  (students should be in their home room by 5:45)

First Grade:  6:45 PM  (students should be in their home room by 6:30)

Fifth Grade:  7:30 PM  (students should be in their home room by 7:15)

There are no costumes necessary for this program, so nice dress clothes would be great!  Students will be bringing a permission slip home in their Friday folder for you to sign and return to school.  Thanks so much for putting our program on your calendar!  We are excited to sing for you!!

Second, Third, and Fourth grade music students are busy as well.  Third and Fourth graders will be singing "America/America, the Beautiful" at the Veteran's Day Program.  Second and Third graders are working on Native American music as well as some music for Thanksgiving.  If you have a fourth grader, then you know all the buzz about playing recorders.  The new ones should arrive any day now, but students that have finished their prerequisite work have already started learning the basics:  how to hold the recorder, how to blow a gentle breath, left hand HAS to be on top (Mrs. Dinwiddie says that a lot), and we have started to learn the fingerings for the first three notes on the recorder - B - A - G.  We are using the Karate Recorder program, so every time a student passes a level, they will earn a color to tie on their recorder.  I am excited that the students are excited for this new venture in the music room!
