Building Trades 2017
The Building Trades classes for the 2017-2018 school year have been constantly working on a addition to a home for a local community member. Students have been completing projects step-by-step with the direction of Mr. Gorkowski. The three classes include Introduction to Building Trades and two intermediate classes.
The students began in August with the pouring of cement for the building addition and then started the framing of walls. The classes then progressed to installing trusses and learning the importance of trade jobs in the workforce. They then advanced to the roofing of the building in late October. In November, the class proceeded to the installation of siding on the house, as well as the installation of windows and doors.
Currently, the class is installing electrical wiring and internet and phone lines, along with insulation. By the end of the year, the classes and Mr. Gorkowski hope to have the building project completed.
