Character Education Week-Caring for our Community
The Putnam County R-I students and staff will be celebrating Character Education Week January 22-26, 2018. We will be collecting donations to support local community organizations. The following list will let you know what days and what items we will be collecting. Thank you for your participation and support in making a difference and showing others how much we care.
Monday-FOOD FOR THOUGHT DAY. We are grateful for our community, please bring in your non-perishable food items and canned goods to help those in need. (Please no outdated, expired or open items). All donations will remain in our community at the local food pantry.
Tuesday-CITIZENSHIP DAY. We will show good citizenship by taking care of our elderly friends and family. We will collect donations for bingo prizes for our friends at the Putnam County Care Center. Prizes that residents enjoy are individually wrapped candy or snacks and small knick-knacks. We will show citizenship for the residents at Bristol Manor. Today we will also collect personal hygiene items for residents. Items may include tooth paste, shampoo, Kleenex and soap.
Wednesday-RESPONSIBILITY DAY. We will help support our local meals-on-wheels program through the PC Cafe' & Resource Center. Items to donate for the center are dish soap, paper towels and napkins.
Thursday-CARING DAY. We are going to support our local Children's Division and Juvenile Office and collect backpack starter kits for children who enter foster care. We will collect backpacks or totes with toothbrushes/toothpaste, shampoo, body wash and blankets. These backpacks will be given to children when they enter the state's custody.
Friday-COOPERATION DAY. Please send new or gently used books for newborn-school age children for the Parents as Teachers Program. PAT provides educational and learning services to many families in our community and they provide books for the children to encourage learning.
