Reading Away the Winter Blahs!

Winter seems to be stretching on forever! To help pass these cold, snowy days and evenings how about snuggling up with your child to read? Here are some book titles that seem to be children's favorites:

The Chocolate Touch by Patrick Skene Catling   What would life be like if everything you touched turned to chocolate? John is delighted at first with chocolate toothpaste, but he soon discovers that chocolate water doesn't taste very good!

This Is the Van That Dad Cleaned by Lisa Campbell Ernst   Ketchup packets and candy corn litter the family van in this takeoff on the nursery rhyme "The House That Jack Built." After cleaning the van, Dad takes the kids for a ride. While he is driving, a new mess grows!

The Cloud Book by Tomie de Paola   Learning about clouds is exciting in this science book for youngsters. The author explains where clouds come from and how to use them to predict weather.

Here's a Little Poem collected by Jane Yolen and Andrew Peters   From playing in the mud and fighting with a sibling to cuddling at bedtime, this collection of poems explores a child's day.

Enjoy the precious time with your child and remember that books help stretch the imagination, teach new things, and, most of all, encourage a love for reading that will last a lifetime!
