On Monday, February 12, 2018, the Putnam County R-I Schools Board of Education met in a regular session. They took this opportunity to recognize just a few of our outstanding high school students and their recent accomplishments.
The Photography Scholars Program at the Nelson Atkins Museum of Art is an elite program that teaches high school students professional artistic practice through close work with museum staff and professional artists. During the program students will work to take photographs centered around a theme while creating a high quality photography portfolio. Being accepted into this program is a great honor, with a large pool of incredibly talented applicants only a small few are invited to be a part of the program. Putnam County is proud to announce that Riley R. has be accepted into the class of 2018 Photography Scholars!
Emily D, freshman and Trey M, senior, went to district band auditions this past Saturday. Both were successful! Emily D. received 3rd chair in the second band as a freshman. Trey M. earned the place of first chair in the Top band, meaning he is the best mallet percussion player in the Northeast district. He will now be moving on to All-state auditions on December 2nd where he will do another audition process against the whole state to see if he can make the state band that plays at the MMEA conference at Tan-tar-a! We are very proud of these fine musicians!
We had another successful State STAR events! Everyone did an amazing job. Congrats to Chloe, Sydney, Madison, and Stephanie for winning their division and advancing to National STAR events.
