Do you know about "The Last Great Race on Earth"?? It is called the Iditarod. The Iditarod is a world famous dog sled race that begins on the first Saturday of March in Anchorage, Alaska. Mushers have been running the race since 1973. There were 35 mushers that began the first race and it took the winner 20 days to complete it. Now, there are up to at least 80 mushers racing and the fastest winning time has been 8 days. The mushers will travel 1,000 miles through tundra and frozen rivers to the finish line in Nome.
