Launch the media gallery 1 player - media #15Ms. Whipp and her students out did themselves with a varied and exciting program of performances by middle and high school band as well as high school choir students. Nearly every student present had learned to play their instruments directly from Ms. Whipp. When you consider that there are 24 sixth graders, 24 seventh and eighth graders, and 30 high school band members, it's truly astonishing how much has been accomplished. Additionally there are fourteen members of the high school choir, the largest group we've had in some time. The choir was accompanied by Mrs. Dinwiddie who also helped out on a lovely piece called Voyage to the Edge of the World combining band and human voices. A Hymn for Band was played as touching tribute to Coach Craig DeVore and his family.
Band Boosters and students served a tasty, piping hot meal to an audience of family and friends packing the high school gym. During intermission pies and other desserts were auctioned off to benefit the music program. Retired band uniforms and instruments were on sale as well. Pieces from the National Art Honor Society Exhibit were also on display. Thank you to everyone who made Saturday night's event a success.
