Ending The Year With Masterpieces!

A Fun Year with Elementary Art Club

The school year has flown by. Our Elementary Art Club has had a lot of fun, laughs, and giggles along the way. Almost every Thursday after school you could hear between 35 to 20 children's voices coming from the art room. We colored, painted, folded paper, cut, glued, and used sidewalk chalk. Students also enjoyed our visit to the Truman college gallery last fall. Students had creations on display at art shows and in the hallway. Many enjoyed our flexible fish and miniature 3-D umbrellas. Some of our art was of the edible kind. On the week of Valentine's Day we held a cookie and cupcake decorating contest.

Our last meeting involved grilled hotdogs, snacks, and sidewalk art. We enjoyed being outside and making art. Students worked in groups to recreate a famous masterpiece with sidewalk chalk and paint. The art was on display in front of the elementary school. Masterpieces that were chosen were by the artists: Vincent van Gogh, Claude Monet, Georgia O'Keefe, Edvard Munch, Piet Mondrian, and Grant Wood. Thank you to parents, students and helpers for making this a great year!
