Third grade students are collecting donations for the Women’s Legion Auxiliary. This past week, Vicki Stewart and Lola Williams, Auxiliary members, spoke to the students about Memorial Day, veterans, and how poppies became an important symbol of patriotism. The Women’s Legion Auxiliary uses donations from the poppies to benefit veterans in a variety of ways including: sending them cards, gift baskets, and making blankets.
Third graders will be collecting loose change and other monetary donations from now until May 15. All monies collected will be given to the Women’s Legion Auxiliary to help veterans. If you would like to donate, you may send your contributions to Putnam County Elementary, contact a PC third grader or Mrs. O’Reilly/Mrs. Whitworth (third grade teachers) or contact a Women’s Auxiliary Member directly.
