Welcome Back to our Putnam County School Families

Welcome Back to Our Putnam School Families

It’s that time again.  Summer vacations are coming to an end and the anticipation of another school year is in the air.  Our top-notch maintenance crew and the administration team have spent the break working hard to prepare for an outstanding year ahead. School safety, the best start for our youngest students, and effective preparation of our graduates for the world ahead continue to be our focus.  Because we are relentless in our pursuit of educational excellence, you will always see changes around campus. A sampling of this year’s improvements include:

  • New shelving in the high school library to open up seating space.

  • Outdoor seating area west of the high school library.

  • Outdoor seating south of the high school commons.

  • New tables and televised news in the middle school commons.

  • Fifth-grade students will have Chromebooks to use in the classroom.

Thursday, August 16, is our first day back in the classroom.  Starting late in the week gives everyone a chance to ease back into the schedule gradually.  New this year, we have one school day off per month for professional development rather than two early release days. Following tradition, we will dismiss at 12:45 September 4-6 during the Putnam County Fair with no school on Friday, the 7th.  Partnership with parents and the community promotes college and career readiness for all of our students; participation in the Fair is part of that for many of our kids.

Parental involvement is key to student success from preschool through graduation; we are in this together and can help each other to create the best learning environment for each student.  Understanding that each individual is different is why we’re constantly adjusting how we do things to find better ways to reach each child. We want your young person to keep that excitement about learning as alive in high school as it was on that first day of Kindergarten.  You can help. Attendance matters, and has a tremendous impact on success both academically and in the working world. Please made school attendance a priority. If you have questions about what’s going on with your child at school, don’t be shy about asking. Your participation is important.

Whether you’re new to Putnam County or a long time resident, welcome back.  Thank you for the trust you’ve placed in us as educators. Together, let’s make this the best school year ever.  Our students’ futures depend upon our teamwork.
