Making Masks in 6th-Grade Art
Masks come in many different forms and from many different cultures. Students in 6th grade Art learned that masks are much more than just a Halloween costume and can represent a culture's beliefs and values. After getting some inspiration from researching several different cultural masks, students were able to design their own mask. Plaster, cardboard, and other materials were used to create masks with contrast and depth. These works of art were only on display for a short time, the students were so excited about the artwork and wanted to take them home right away!
