Missouri Public Schools: the best choice…the best results!

In 2017, the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) launched a new strategic plan, with the overarching goal of having all Missouri students graduate ready for success.

The department’s mission is to guarantee the superior preparation and performance of every child in school and in life by:

1. Providing all students access to a broad range of high-quality educational opportunities from early learning to post-high school engagement.

2. Prepare, develop and support educators to ensure an effective teacher in every classroom and effective leader in every school.

3. Create an internal environment of continuous improvement, effective programming, and efficient business operations.

The quality of life in any community is dependent upon the performance of its public schools. When it comes to building and maintaining quality communities, schools come first. The goal of having all students graduate ready for success rests on the state and individual school districts. The Comprehensive School Improvement Plan (CSIP) is the tool districts utilize to prioritize improvement needs in order for students to graduate ready for success.

The Missouri School Improvement Program (MSIP) Performance standards and incremental targets were set as a trajectory for growth in performance.

Each district can utilize the Annual Performance Report (APR) outcomes for planning purposes and determining where the district stands in supporting Missouri’s goals. The MSIP Performance standards and targets will guide Missouri’s continuing school improvement efforts as we work together to reach our goal of having all students graduate ready for success.
