Dear Parents,
2nd Grade Field Trip
April 18, 2019
Where: Science Center of Iowa - Des Moines, IA
Time: The bus will leave the school at 7:45 a.m. Please have your student at the school by 7:35 a.m. so that we are ready to leave at 7:45 a.m.. We will arrive at the Science Center at 10:15 a.m. We will leave the Science Center at approximately 2:00 p.m. We will arrive back at the school at 4:30 p.m.
Breakfast will not be provided that morning. Please make sure that your child eats breakfast at home.
Students will need to bring a lunch for that day in a container with an ice pack.
All parents will need to make arrangements for drop off and pick up of their child for that day as we will be leaving before the busses arrive and returning after they have left for the day.
All students will need to pay $7.50 for admission and snack. DUE BY APRIL 11
Parents wishing to attend need to contact the teacher no later than April 11th. Parents attending must also have a current background check on file in the elementary office.
Next week in:
Communication Arts: We will begin working on idioms, and studying famous Americans/inventors. Within this new unit we will be studying author’s purpose, character traits, point of view and comparing the lives of famous Americans/inventors.
Spelling: A spelling list is in the Friday folder.
Math: We will be working on using mental math to solve problems, adding using partial sums, using models to add, explaining addition strategies, and repeated reasoning.
Social Studies/Science: We will begin a new unit on famous Americans/inventors.

April 12 - PTO movie night from 5:30-7:30 (doors open at 5:15 cost is $5)
