The North Area Special Olympics Track and Field Competition was held Saturday, April 27, 2019, at Truman State University in Kirksville, Missouri. Putnam County was represented by six athletes who each brought home three medals of gold, silver, and/or bronze or ribbons. These athletes participated in the 100 m dash, softball throw, and standing long jump or running long jump. All athletes did an amazing job and should be very proud of their accomplishments! Putnam County athletes are pictured above and include (left to right) Bella, Charle’, Maddy, Robert, Eden, and Guy. Coaches for the Putnam County Special Olympic Team included Monica Casady and Kim Knight. Our uniforms were purchased with money donated by the Knights of Columbus from their Tootsie Roll Campaign. The team would like to say a VERY BIG THANK YOU to the Knights of Columbus for our awesome uniforms! Congratulations Athletes—We are so proud of you!!!
