Stitched Together for the Love of the Game

Putnam vs. Milan Football Rivalry 2019

Lisa Stobbe

Local photojournalist, Michael Bupp, captured the heart, grit, determination, emotion, athleticism, and respect that was displayed on the field during our annual Putnam vs. Milan matchup. Friday's game at Milan was postponed with a little under 2 minutes left to play before the half due to weather. On, Monday, our Heartland teams suited up again in their blue and white and green and yellow to do battle on the field. The Midgets and Wildcats both fought with fierce determination, but the Midgets walked away with a 14-13 win after going into overtime. Following the game, all the coaches stood and players kneeled together in mutual respect for each other and the game. For our Seniors, this was the last Putnam vs. Milan football rivalry. We may be rivals by towns, but we are stitched together for a love of the game. Congratulations to all! You should be proud.
