Staying Fit!

Hello Physical Development and Physical Education classes,

I hope everyone is doing well and staying healthy! Who would have thought we would have so much down time? How are you spending your free time? I hope you are not just sitting on the couch eating every bit of junk food in the house. Even though our P.E. and Physical Development classes only last for 45 minutes, it is recommended that students of your age get 6O MINUTES of moderate exercise DAILY.  That type of exercise could be anything from going on a walk, run or hike outdoors, helping out on the family farm, doing at home workouts like P90X, 21 Day Fix, Insanity, T-25 or Yoga, or even getting up and dancing around the house.

The goal is to get up and not be sedentary (tending to spend much time seated; somewhat inactive) for the whole duration of our time away from school. Try not to lounge around drinking soda, eating junk food or playing X-Box/PlayStation all day. Being cooped up may cause some sort of stress or anxiety, or one may even begin to feel depressed. One of the best ways to not be affected by that is to exercise. Exercise can do many great things for you physically and mentally. Sometimes, I will go out in the woods on a hike, just to clear my head. If the weather is nice, get outside and enjoy the fresh air and sunshine.

Exercising daily can also help your body’s immune system to stay strong and help fight off any disease or sickness you may encounter.  Not to mention the lifelong benefits it has if you continue.  Below are some links with easy workouts that are body weight only.  Things like push ups, sit ups, jumping jacks, or burpees.  No need to have dumbbells, benches or machines and still get a good workout.  You can do it alone or encourage your family members to join in with you!  Stay safe, stay healthy and I am looking forward to returning to school and seeing you all!
