2011 Junior High Softball

The Junior High Lady Midgets Softball team played their final game of the season against the Brookfield Lady Bulldogs. The B team for the Lady Midgets had a great victory and won the game with a score of 13-3. The girls were really hitting well; it was like the light bulb finally came on just in time for the last game. The A team for the Lady Midgets lost their battle with a score of 5-7. The Lady Midgets lead the first half of the game and had some great earned runs. As the game went on, the Lady Midgets fell behind due to walks and a couple of fielding errors.
The Lady Midgets played in the Kirksville J.H. Tournament and the Schuyler County J.H. Tournament receiving fifth and fourth place respectively. The girls were very excited about their wins over both the Kirksville seventh and eighth grade teams during the Kirksville Tournament. This softball season was full of many great hits and great plays. The team had two great wins over the Knox County Eagles as well as a great night of hitting against the Scotland County Tigers with a final score of 14-2. The team had a great bunting game and got the win over the North Shelby Raiders and we held the Milan Wildcats to a 5-4 victory at home. The Lady Midgets ended the season with a 7-6 record.
All in all, the Lady Midgets had a great season. This group of girls was very enjoyable to work with and Coach Caley and I had a great time coaching them. These girls have a lot of athletic ability. My hopes are that they will all work hard during the off season to come back much stronger and more confident for next year.
