Artist Fascinates Middle School Students

By Partridge, Tonja

September 16, 2011

On September 2, 2011, my fifth block of Middle School students were treated to a visit by recent Alumni Academic Hall of Fame winner, Mr. Bill Jackson.  Mr. Jackson, who has originated and hosted a number of television programs for young people, among his many other accomplishments, demonstrated his drawing skills to a rapt audience.  Beginning with a few questions about initials and future hopes and dreams, he rapidly produced a caricature that everyone recognized as Mrs. Partridge.

The students were so impressed that our guest had graduated from Putnam County and had gone on to do so much in his life.  Several Googled his name and were simply star struck that they had actually met such a famous individual.  Fortunately, many in the class had secured an autograph!

He encouraged the class to make the most of their time here.  Mr. Jackson reminded the students that in whatever they pursue, keep it simple with these four words:  dream big, try hard.
