The Putnam County FCCLA is gearing up for Regional STAR (Students Taking Action for Recognition) Events on February 3rd, 2011. The Putnam County FCCLA has five members creating various projects for judging at Region 3 competition in Meadville, MO. Students signed up for events in December in various areas related to Family and Consumer Sciences. These projects are rigorous and require hours of preparation that, for most of the students, is done outside of class.

The following students are completing projects in the various areas including:
Nutrition and Wellness – Rachel and Kaisee
    Interior Design - Dillon
   Child Development - Haley
   Recycle and Redesign – Christian

Students develop a range of items including interior design boards, research portfolios, oral presentations, and for one student a garment constructed from recycled materials. It allows students to develop oral and written communication in areas of personal interest. It requires much creativity and work ethic to complete the elements required. Students will be competing against other FCCLA members across the northeast corner of the state. Students will receive gold, silver, or bronze based on the scoring of their projects at regional competition. The top two gold-level projects in each category will advance to state STAR events in Columbia, MO. These FCCLA members will represent Putnam County in the best way. Congratulations and good luck!
