Students in Mrs. Stobbe’s high school and middle school cooking classes have had a busy start to the school year. They began their studies on foods with ten entries into the Putnam County Fair student baking division. The high school cooking class took top honors winning the chocolate chip cookie and the middle school placed 2nd and 3rd with a monster cookie and a lemonade cookie. High school student, Camile, also entered an apple pie into the adult pie division winning a 2nd place ribbon. According to Julia Child, “no one is born a great cook, one learns by doing”. Likewise, students will “doing” exactly that this year in the FCS classroom, learning about food through experience.
