Welcome back! I am Megan Hines, let me introduce myself,
I graduated from PC in 2003 and immediately attended Indian Hills Community College in Centerville, Iowa. From there I transferred to Graceland University in Lamoni, Iowa and earned my BFA in Studio Art. After two years of teaching I earned my Master Degree in Art Education from Boston University. For the past seven years I have taught 6th through 12th grade art in Milan, Missouri. Over my years of teaching I have been fortunate enough to help several students in the arts. During the past school year I had one student win the Fine Arts Essay Contest for the state of Missouri and another student win the top award at the Missouri State Capitol's Youth Art Month Exhibit, earning both of us a trip to NYC over the summer. That student was also awarded a $42,000 scholarship to the School of the Arts Institute in Chicago.
I am married and have two children. My husbands name is Dusty, my son Tyler is three years old, and my daughter Carleigh is 11 years old. My children have came back to PC with me! Carleigh is starting the 6th grade and Tyler will start pre-school next year. We currently have to commute from Milan, but plan to move back to my family farm in Putnam County when we are able.
During my free time I teach Canvas Painting classes to adults and try to work on my own art as much as I can. I was recently a 2016 finalist for Photographers Forum Magazine. As a family we try to travel when we can. Over the summer we traveled to Florida where we visited Disney, Universal Studios, fished in the ocean, swam with dolphins, and watched a rocket launch from the beach. I love for my children to experience as much as possible.
With school beginning again I am excited to work in such an amazing art room! I can not wait to begin making memories at PC!
