Elementary Character Education Assembly

February and March

Today's Character Education Assembly was twice as long as usual, but the students were very patient and did a good job of listening and being respectful.  Besides the usual awards for Academic performance, Behavior and Character, the Republican Women also gave out awards for their essay and art contests.  Additionally, Captain Jason Adams, father kindergartner Isaac, spoke to students about the character words for February and March, Trustworthiness and Cooperation. Captain Adams had no need for a microphone and had the elementary students' attention with ease.   Congratulations also go out to high school students Grant and Torqe who were honored for demonstrating the qualities of trustworthiness and cooperation; when they speak the elementary kids definitely listen!  Finally, community character winners nominated by students were recognized.  Marsha Richardson, Craig Salisbury and Wendy Tipton were all celebrated by student essays on how much they mean to the students who nominated them.  The qualities of trustworthiness and cooperation are best taught by example and these adults are clearly teaching that lesson every day.
